The themes identified in the pre-existing research were cross-referenced with the transcribed interviews in order to confirm the relevance of these initial themes. In conjunction with this, a thematic analysis of the interviews was conducted using the original set of themes as a baseline guide.

This review of the themes was primarily done in order to confirm the relevance of the themes, to the interview subjects. However, the intention was also to explore if there were any additional themes that were not identified as a result of the thematic analysis of literature.

An investigation of possible hierarchies, redundancies, and relationships between themes was also conducted. Special attention was given to whether or not parings of themes potentially supported or facilitated each other. In this way dependencies were also looked at between pairs of themes.
